(Gossard, 2010) 44" MRe 7.5" dormant diploid, Spider. 22 buds, 4 branches. UF cascade. Very nice dark red above a green throat. Blooms are held high, the plant blooms for a long time. Out of Royal Curls x Heavenly Spider Monkey.
Bright reddish lavender with purple band, huge lemon-cream throat, with a ruffled creamy edge, it can have six-way branching on strong scapes. It is sunfast to 98 degrees F. 4 branches, 30 buds. Unusual form cascade. The most striking daylily in our late section of the display garden. It bloomed for about 2 months this year, with every day many blooms open. Perhaps the nicest aspect for me is good looks after rain, wind, sun, heat, and sprinkler. Pollen fertile, pod very difficult, superlative parent for tall, excellent branching and bud count kids.
Reed, 2005 - 42" M 7" dor.dip. Pale gold with dark wine-red eye, yellow throat
Named after my favorite daughter, the softball player, this daylily has a black eye! The bloom is very ruffled and has a narrow, exotic form. The dark wine-red/black eye is in high contrast to the pale gold/parchment background color. There is the slight beginning of a picotee edge in the dark color. This daylily presents many different faces, but it is always very showy in the garden. Fertile both ways and often reblooms.
Reed, 2005 - 45" Mla 7" dor.dip.Dark red purple self, great substance and form, well branched. Excellent garden plant, always showy and reliable, excellent scapes.
Santa Lucia 2000 38" Mre 7" Dor Dip UF Rusty Rose Blend dark rose edge. Blooms forever, with bud building and rebloom. Vic selected this one for performance!
Reed, 2008 - 36" EM 6.5" dor. Dip. Soft pink with creamy ruffled edges, 4-way branching
Soft pink, with a cream throat and midribs, and creamy ruffled edges. Out of Loch Ness Monster, the ruffles are on all segments, and the bloom is gently recurved and narrow. The garden name has been Pink LNM. With wide 4-way branching and 18-20 buds, it displays the blooms nicely. It is named after my mother, who was the first person I knew to grow daylilies. If only hers in the 1950's had been this pretty! She would love it. Fertile.

(Murphy 2011) 53" ML 6.5" Dormant Diploid Cascade UF
This is actually a 2011 summer intro that was a gift plant for attendees of the Region 3 Summer Meeting. This large light gold cascade with lighter midribs is diamond dusted, and outfacing, important for tall ones. The spent blooms and buds are also gold, making it a pleasing back of the border plant. Out of (SUNNY SON x JERSEY JIM) x (LUNA) , and is fertile, and tough. 2 branches, 18 buds, 100% sunfast. Able to grow in a wide variety of climates and conditions. Very tall, well-branched and budded, this extra-large reddish lavender with a dark lavender eye, gold throat, and ruffled cream edge stands out, to say the least, towering over lesser plants. Warrell '98 - 36" Mla 6.5" dor.dip.ext. uf Black Red self. This plant is a sunfast black red. It blooms until very late. Very good parent.
A truly great cultivar for sunfast dark black red blooms in the late garden. Reliable.
Murphy 2015 48" EMRe 8" dormant, tetraploid 3 branches, 23 buds, very sunfast Unusual Form – Cascade ( Fish Face x Freewheelin)
Tall, huge, stunning yellow with large jagged purple eye, green throat, blue-green foliage. I tagged this seedling on its’ first bloom. It has proven its’ worth in 4 seedling seasons. It can have taller scapes with more branching in exceptional conditions. All cultivars have qualities and considerations. This one checks most every box, except is not pod fertile. The scapes are thick and strong, but a few have leaned over in thunderstorms when they have several 8 inch blooms, but it is not the dreaded flopper... Going to flower shows? Bring this one. Wide and broad branching with well spaced flowers.
Cute as a chipmunk, this little brown spidery bloom has a black stripe (eye) and green throat. It is tall, well-branched, and has lots of bloom. Not quite a miniature or a true spider, it has potential in that direction. It is out of REUTHERS BROWN SPIDER x BROWN WITCH, which gives it a heritage of vigor and pod fertility.
Great grower and does well in poor conditions.
Metzger ( 2013) 43" EMRE 6.5 Dor Dip Ext. Cascade Unusual Form
David's flower has been a star in our garden for five years now. Orange and tan, with a red eye, green throat, and cream edge, it curls radically on hot humid days. Quite sunfast. Four way branching, 27 buds, and a long bloom season, with some rebloom. Out of two great ones, MAGIC OF OZ, by ROCKET SCIENCE. The latter is hardy in zone 3. Pollen fertile, Pod difficult. Very limited.
Soft peach cream ruffled blooms sit atop well-branched scapes, with blush-rose eyes and light green throats. The blooms tend to be upfacing, and look like a cloud could land there comfortably! The only downside is that the foliage is a light green color. Pod and pollen fertile.
Parentage: CRYSTALLINE ENTITY X MARGO REED INDEED.
Bret Clement, 2009. 32" La 7.5" dormant, diploid. Uf crispate. Rose red with white midrib and edge, and slightly darker rose eye above green throat. This makes a great clump with rosy pointed stars covering the plant! Not only a great name, but a great plant.
This reddish-lavender cascade has muted purple and slate patterned eyezones. A reliable re-bloomer here with 2 branches, 15 buds, fertile.Despite the registration, it has been a dormant for two winters now, hardy in zone 4a. Out of YABBA DABBA DOO X LOLA BRANHAM.
You cannot get lost going in this direction. A late bloomer, Compass Rose starts 4-5 weeks after mid-season, like its parent, After Awhile Crocodile. Light rose with a darker rose band, yellow-cream throat. Striking in the late season. (After Awhile Crocodile x seedling)
Margo says: Ooh, it's lined out and has good branching and tons of buds!
Murphy, '06 - 41" M 5.5" dor.dip. Red bitone, complex color pattern and edge color. Excellent parent for patterned and complex color patterned kids. Long blooming, good bud count.

Murphy, '05 - 54" La 5.5" Dor. Dip. Clear yellow with red eye above orange and green throat, very tall.
Yellow with a stark, bright red eye, orange throat, green heart. The taller sibling of YOU KNOW WHO, blooms late August, and September here, sometimes into October. Can be seen from across the garden, so I named it as the second in the lighthouse series. Corolla Light is an old lighthouse on the coast of North Carolina. Long bloomer, with 3 branches and 27 buds.
New Tall Cherry was the garden name of this one, and cherry-rose describes the color. Almost rose-red in the morning, fading to pretty rose pink after a very hot day; still blooming at the end of July, it has a long season of bloom. It measures as a true spider (4.8:1), but it is also a graceful, tailored, smooth cascade. It has a cream-gold to green throat and cream midribs. 2-way branching, 15-16 buds. It is named after a waterfall in the Blue Ridge. Parentage unknown.
( Murphy 2014) 46" L 8" Dormant Diploid UF- Crispate

All blooms held erect on stiff also erect scapes way above the strongly dormant blue green foliage. Out of a Benzinger seedling by KIRSTEN MADELAINE BURKEY. 3 branches , 24 buds. Extremely fertile. Murphy, 05 - 59" La 6" dor.dip. Reblooms. Every scape is crooked or loops. Golden orange, with red eye. Doubles about 30% to 50% of the time, with good conditions.
Completely distinctive, with 59" scapes, every one with a crook, bend, or even loop. You read that correctly. Nothing like it in your garden! Late bloom and good color, with green throat, complete the package. Scapes do lean, and twist, and some fall, but then grow toward the sun, with 15 buds, and 2 branches. Fertile, parents unknown. Exhibition Judges don't know what to do when this is on the show table.
Extremely clear colored. It has a green and white throat, and good 3-way branching with 25 buds. Fragrant and fertile, out of MARGO REED INDEED by NORTH WIND DANCER. It is completely sunfast here. Double fans, or more. Excellent.
(Reed, 2017) 38” Midseason 7.25” dormant diploid, Unusual Form
This large bright red bloom is very showy, with a lot of action in the curling sepals and flaring, pinched, ruffled petals. It has a slightly darker red eye, light green throat, and 3 branches and 15 buds. It clumps up quickly, and is fertile.
Dancing eye to eye, or nose to nose, you will not have to bend down to look at this warm pink exotic bloom. 3-way branching, and sturdy scapes support the blooms that are nicely ruffled. This one brings flamingo pink color into the very tall group of daylilies. Fertile both ways.
Truly standing above the crowd, Dances with Giraffes is at least 5 feet tall when established. The large blooms cascade and curl down from the tall scapes, golden yellow with a rose-peach blush eye above a green throat. It is registered as an unusual form/cascade. Difficult to set a pod, but the pollen is good. This makes a statement in the garden!
This one has narrow white, ruffled blooms like snowflakes on tall scapes. Slightly pink cast in the morning gives way to white on the blooms. Not famous for its branching, it has an adequate bud count of 12. The bloom is an open, spokes-of-a-wheel or star form. Unusual Form spatulate. Out of Secretary Sand x North Wind Dancer. Pod and pollen fertile.

Tall and thin, this bloom is pale with a dark-blood eye to haunt you. The bloom, not the scape, can be a little floppy after a big thunderstorm or overhead watering. But on a quiet morning it is stunning and huge.

Check out the image under More Info - this one has just a mass of blooms, branches, buds, and strong scapes. It blooms heavily for 3 to 4 weeks, with every day a show. The highest branching and bud count of my 2013 intros.
Bennett, F., '98 - 21" EM 3.5" sev.dip. Round rose/red little one. Bud Bennett passed away a few years ago. His diploid round and/or ruffled intros are joy in the Virginia- Maryland area. He never used the internet to sell daylilies, and mainly only has local distribution.
If you are interested in a collection of 5 or 6 of his, let me know and I will give you great plants at a good price with the intent of wider distribution. Don't expect any spiders!

Rich deep red-purple with large green to cream throat. The throat shape is sharply pointed, radiating out onto the tepals. It has light veining. This is a reliable and consistent early bloomer with up facing flowers on a shorter plant. Quite showy with the contrasting throat. I have some very interesting seedlings from Devil's Chimes. 3 branches, 15 buds
Parentage: (Rose F. Kennedy x Cabernet Cabaret)
Bright, clear red with strong green throat pattern extending halfway out the tepals, split with a striking cream midrib on tepals. 3 branches, 20 buds. Unusual form cascade. This daylily has extremely bright red and very deep green for a vivid contrast seen across the garden. Very sunfast for us, up to the mid 90's at 7pm. Long bloom season, and very fertile both ways. The name comes from my favorite place to hike and rock climb in Virginia.
(Rose F. Kennedy x Snooks Harville/BJ Crichton selected seedling)
This seems to be a breakthrough in RFK kids- fast growth, coupled with color that holds well in the afternoon summer sun.
